Definition: A link between the surface and underground water. Often exposed to the surface as a small pool, Cenotes are made of rain and ground water and consequently have extremely good visibility. Renowned as excellent venues for cave diving due to their excellent visibility and presence of stalagmites and stalactites. The Yucatan peninsula in Mexico is famed for it's cenotes.
